Welcome to the Elix platform and we’re excited to have you onboard. If you’re here, then you may have come from the giveaway, new to crypto, or just curious to learn how to create an Elixir and Ethereum wallet. In this guide, we will provide a step by step guide on how to create a wallet to receive your Elixir tokens and all the different things you can do with your Elixir tokens.
What is Elixir?
Elixir is a decentralized lending, crowdfunding, and payments platform where you can take control of your financial future. Do you need to raise funds for your next big idea or project? Then you can use Elixir to boost your big idea or project with decentralized crowdfunding. Do you need a small loan from a friend or family and need a way to track it? Then you can use Elixir to keep track of the loan and payments made. Maybe you just want to store your Elixir or Ethereum in a safe place. With Elixir, you can take control of your financial future.
How to receive your Elix using the Elixir Application
Step 1: Download Elixir from the Apple App Store or the Android Play Store
Once you download the app, the home page should look like this.
Step 2: Open the Application and Select Wallet
The wallet page should look like this.
Step 3: Select “Create a Wallet”
Your wallet is where you store your cryptocurrency. The wallet in the Elixir app lets you store your Elix and Ethereum. Remember that you will need Ethereum in your wallet to be able to move your Elixir outside of the app. We will teach you how to do this later.
Step 4: Save your Passphrase
Saving your passphrase or private key is extremely important. If you don’t save it, then you will not be able to access your funds ever again if you lose your wallet or have the app deleted. I highly recommend you save your passphrase and private key online, and offline. Remember to NEVER share the passphrase or private key with anyone. Don’t proceed to the next step until your passphrase is safely saved.
Step 5: Select the QR code in the top right-hand corner of the app
Step 6: Press Copy Address
The address you see that starts with 0x is your Ethereum public key. The Ethereum public key is visible to anyone and can safely be shared. If you want to receive your Ethereum or any other ERC20 coin like Elix then you share the public key.
Step 7: Send the Address that you copied to your intended recipient
Once you’ve copied your address, send it to your intended recipient. If you’re one of the lucky 101 winners of the giveaway reply to the e-mail with your address. This public address is always used to receive Ethereum and other ERC20 tokens like Elix.
How to receive your Elixir using My Ether Wallet
Step 1: Make sure you’re on the right website.
If you’re not on the right website then you risk losing your funds as phishing websites will gain access to your private key.
Step 2: Create password and select create new wallet
When creating your password, make sure it’s over 9 characters. This password is used to act as a second level of security for your wallet. You will need your password and your private key to access your wallet.
Step 3: Download JSON File
Keep your JSON file in a safe place as this is one way to be able to access your wallet from other decentralized apps.
Step 4: Save your Private Key
Your private key should never ever be shared with anyone. Save it in a secure place on your computer, print it out, and or write it down. Make multiple backups of it.
Step 5: Enter your private key to access your Elix and Ethereum wallet
To access your Elix and Ethereum wallet on My Ether Wallet (MEW) you need to enter your private key where it says private key. Don’t enter it into insecure websites. Make sure there is a valid SSL certificate with the company name My Ether Wallet Inc in the URL bar. I recommend that the website is bookmarked and only access it from there just in case you make a typo.
Step 6: Copy your address
Step 7: Send your Address that you copied to the intended recipient
Once you’ve copied your address, send it to your intended recipient. If you’re one of the lucky 101 winners of the giveaway reply to the e-mail with this address. Your public address is always used to receive Ethereum and other ERC20 tokens like Elix.
What is gas and why can’t I make a transaction?
For any transaction on the Ethereum network, you will need to pay a transaction fee (gas) in order to power the network. To trade, transfer, or move ERC20 tokens like Elix you will need to have Ethereum in your wallet. This also applies to contributing to crowdfunding projects on the app. Once you receive your Elix token, you will need to purchase Ethereum from an exchange like Coinbase and then transfer it to your public address.
